Counting One to Ten

  • Communication Objectives: Kids will learn to give information about numbers and to count from 1-10.
  • Language Objectives: Kids will use the question ‘How many?’ to ask questions about numbers. Kids will learn to describe things using numbers.

  • Vocabulary:  numbers – one, two, three, four, five, six, to ten, ducks
  • Grammar:  Use the phrase ‘How many...?’ to ask the number description of a given noun and suggest that the noun can be counted. Look at both the plural and singular form of the nouns. Add an ‘s’ to turn nouns into the plural from the singular. With some nouns, it is trickier, though. Recognize that numbers are generally adjectives.

  • Grammar:  Use fruits in the plural form, and learn to use the articles ‘a’ and ‘an’ and how to distinguish when to use which. Use ‘a’ when a noun has a consonant sound, and use ‘an’ when the noun has a consonant sound.
